If you’re a car collector in the market for beastly automobiles that have been owned by baseball’s greatest players, this is your special week.
Two days ago, we featured Reggie Jackson’s 1970 Chevrolet Camaro, and today we have a 2000 Mercedes-Benz CLK60 RENNtech originally purchased by Mariners legend, Ken Griffey Jr.
According to the current owner, it has just over 74,000 miles on it with over $120,000 invested in customizations — as if it being owned by The Kid wasn’t enough.
Additional details from the seller:
WOW!!! Motion Autohaus jut got this very rare to find, CELEBRITY OWNED, one of a kind, real headturner, widebody 2000 Mercedes-Benz CLK60 AMG RENNtech convertible. Customized features of $120,000+ invested in this beast. Originally owned by future MLB Hall of Former Ken Griffey Jr. Runs very smooth, like new.
RENNtech confirmed that Mr. Griffey is the original owner of the car, but did not provide an electronic list of all of the custom work that was done. iPhone audio hookup in glove compartment. Back wheel spacers made in 2015 by Wheel Outfitters. Tampa Owner purchased the car from his brother in 2012. His brother had owned it for a very long time and kept it garaged.
