We know Mike Trout can hit almost anything, but he took his “hit” tool next level Tuesday evening against the Blue Jays’ Aaron Sanchez.
In the top of the sixth inning, Sanchez sawed off Trout’s bat, but the future weatherman was able to fight off the pitch for a bloop single to centerfield. However, the pitch wasn’t the only thing Trout made contact with, as the barrel of his broken bat went flying towards both Russell Martin and the home plate umpire, connecting with both:

Yikes. Broken bats are pretty much a norm in baseball, but rarely do we ever see a player actually get nailed. This was a reminder that the possibility of someone getting impaled by a piece of flying wood is up there with line drives back to the mound, and pitches towards a batter’s head in terms of scary baseball plays.
Luckily, Martin and the umpire were unharmed and finished off the game.
Mike Trout's broken bat flies back and hits Russell Martin on side of head. He shakes it off and remains in game. Trout bloop is 1B, two on
