There will be no cultural appropriation on this Cinco De Mayo from the Nationals, I can promise you that. I’m sure we’ll see come teams break out their favorite Cinco De Drinko costumes this afternoon, which will have the Twitter snowflakes all up in arms on a nice Saturday, but they won’t be able to put that on the Nats.
Manager Dave Martinez took a page out of the Joe Maddon playbook today and brought in a real life Mariachi band to perform in front of the team in the clubhouse. You know, just keeping things light early in the season because lord knows 162 games draaaaags.

Mark this down under the Things You Don’t See Every Day category: An eight-piece Mariachi Band playing in the Nats clubhouse for Cinco de Mayo. Anthony Rendon dancing. Sombreros present. Everyone listening, clapping, cheering.

I’m sure someone will find a way to call this problematic, but the way I see it, we’re making baseball fun again. In between all these unwritten rules, sometimes you gotta lighten things up. Now these players can look forward to those post-game tequila shots.
