Byron Scott Gave “Entitled” D’Angelo Russell Tough Love

Byron Scott took plenty of his heat for his coaching of the Lakers’ rookies this season, but now that he’s unemployed, he can finally dish on his oft-criticized handling of D’Angelo Russell.
Scott appeared on “The Dan Patrick Show” Monday and was asked, “Did you have to give him tough love?” The response was classic Scott:

Absolutely. Every now and then some of these guys when they come into the league they think they’re entitled. And you know that’s how I thought he felt when he first got with us. He almost tried to act like he was the veteran and I tried to make sure he knew that he wasn’t a veteran.

Don’t fret, Lakers fans — he also gave him some love:

Of course, the tough love act probably wasn’t totally out of bounds considering the Nick Young-Iggy Azalea secret tape scandal.
