Cowboys Coaching Interview: Jerry Jones Repeats Old Habits

Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, is thinking about hiring a new head coach. He wants to interview Kellen Moore, who works for the Philadelphia Eagles right now. Cowboys fans might not be too surprised by this because Jones likes people he knows well.

Jones has officially asked to talk with Moore. It seems like a logical choice since Moore has experience. However, some think it shows how much Jones wants a new coach quickly.

Picking Moore could be good or bad for Dallas. Moore has worked with teams like the Cowboys, Los Angeles Chargers, and now the Eagles. But his style isn’t as impressive as other top coaches out there.

Why is Jones so interested in Moore? According to a Yahoo Sports article, he’s worried about missing out on Moore, just like he did with Dan Quinn and Sean Payton in the past. That’s why he’s moving fast.

Equating Moore’s potential with Quinn’s and Payton’s might be a stretch. It’s a risky move for Jones, even though he seems eager to make it.

This decision feels forced. Ian Rapoport reported that Jones officially requested an interview with Moore, suggesting he might not have many other choices. Deion Sanders was considered but seems unavailable.

The #Cowboys have officially requested to interview #Eagles OC Kellen Moore for their HC job, per me and @MikeGarafolo. One of the top candidates.

Other names like Leslie Frazier and Robert Saleh are also being considered. Saleh might be a smart choice because he could improve the team’s defense quickly.

Saleh had some trouble winning games in New York, mainly due to issues with the quarterback. If he joins the Cowboys, he would find a solid offense that could do well with the right guidance.

If Saleh declines and Moore steps up, he’ll face high expectations. Since he knows the team well, there’s no room for excuses if things don’t go well.

Moore has led strong offenses before, except for a couple of years with Dallas and the Chargers. This shows he can handle offensive strategies well.

But running an NFL team involves more than just knowing plays. Can Moore manage the players and the pressure from Jones effectively?

Jones doesn’t have many options left, which might explain why Moore is on his list. Maybe Moore is one of the few who can work with Jones as an owner. Hiring Moore could mean taking a big risk that might lead to more struggles than success for the Cowboys.
