The Kansas City Chiefs are a good team to pick for fantasy football. Last year, even their best players like Travis Kelce had some bad games. Patrick Mahomes is always one of the top quarterbacks, but it’s hard to know how his teammates will do in fantasy.
Isiah Pecheco and Travis Kelce are the safest bets on the team.
Kelce is the best tight end, and Pecheco is a strong running back. But many people are curious about the wide receivers. There’s a chance to get Kansas City wideouts at a low cost. If one of them connects well with Mahomes, it could be very rewarding.
Three Chiefs wide receivers might be worth picking: Hollywood Brown, Rashee Rice, and Xavier Worthy. Rice is considered the main WR1 after a solid rookie season but might face suspension due to a reckless driving incident that caused injuries. The timing of this suspension is still unknown.
Choosing between Hollywood Brown and Xavier Worthy for second place is tricky. Both are fast and can make big plays after catching the ball. The Chiefs have room for more than one speedy receiver, but one will likely become Mahomes’ favorite target.
Xavier Worthy has great potential for Week 1 but things might change later.
For those setting their lineups for Thursday night, Worthy could be a good pick for Week 1. Relying on rookies can be risky, especially in the first week, but with Hollywood Brown out due to a shoulder injury from preseason, Worthy might get more chances.
Brown’s injury means Worthy has had extra practice time with Mahomes, which could help him early in the season even after Brown returns.
In the long run, though, Brown’s experience makes him a safer choice over Worthy. While neither player is very strong physically (Brown at 180 pounds and Worthy at 165), Brown’s size gives him an edge. Worthy struggled with physicality during camp and will need time to adjust to the NFL level. Once Brown returns, he could reduce Worthy’s targets each week.
Both players have the potential to score long touchdowns at any time, making them valuable in fantasy football each week. However, Brown seems like a more stable option for the entire season compared to Worthy. For Week 1 though, give Worthy a shot and see if his speed can break through against Baltimore’s tough defense. With Mahomes throwing passes, anything can happen!
