Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, usually talks a lot. But on Friday, he didn’t say much about new contracts for Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb.
Jones kept his words brief.
When asked about Prescott and Lamb, Jones gave only tiny updates. It seems like the Cowboys aren’t close to making deals with either player anytime soon.
Jerry Jones on contract talks: "I would say we’re talking (w/ Prescott). I would not have a legitimate progress point there at all. And I really don’t have one for (CeeDee) Lamb either. And it’s not negative. I’m just not thinking that it will do any good to talk about progress."

“I would say we’re talking [with Prescott],” Jones told ESPN’s Todd Archer. “I would not have a legitimate progress point there at all.” This isn’t very encouraging. However, the lack of progress with Prescott is still better than what Jones said about Lamb.
“And I really don’t have one for [CeeDee] Lamb either,” he continued. “And it’s not negative. I’m just not thinking that it will do any good to talk about progress.”
What should we focus on then? With training camp underway, these unresolved contract situations are distracting for both Prescott and Lamb—and the entire Cowboys team.
Despite Jones trying to dodge the topic, everyone is still focused on Prescott and Lamb’s contracts. Questions will keep coming until something changes.
Yet, despite everything, mum’s the word for Jones. For someone who usually has so much to say, this sudden silence feels like deflection. Why now? Why no urgency to re-sign these key players? And what about Micah Parsons? His name wasn’t even mentioned by Jones.
The Cowboys’ season opener against the Cleveland Browns is just a month away. Hopefully, Jones and the front office will sort things out by then, but this non-update could be worrisome.
