Sorry, Alabama fans. Another top coach is not willing to fill the vacancy left by Nick Saban, and it really shouldn’t come as any surprise.
The Crimson Tide faithful had floated Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian’s name around as a potential replacement, but he quickly put an end to any speculation of a move to Tuscaloosa.
Sarkisian took to social media to share a video that made it clear he’s staying at Texas.
“I came here to win championships. That’s the goal,” Sarkisian says in the video. “We’re here to chase greatness, to win championships. This is the University of Texas, and people are going to want to be part of it. It sure is great to be on the 40 acres.”

Sarkisian’s video comes just one day after Oregon’s Dan Lanning, who was considered a top candidate for the Alabama job, released a video of his own confirming he would not be leaving Oregon.
And if you are being honest with yourself, there is no reason for either man to leave their current job for Alabama.
Alabama, right now, is a trap.
You would be going to a school with the shoes of Nick Saban that you will likely never fill, and a program that expects immediate success despite a regime change.
For guys like Sarkisian and Lanning, who are knocking on the national championship door, it’s best to stick with what they’ve built.
So where will Alabama ultimately turn? Only time will tell.
