Social media was buzzing after a video from Brazil showed a “10-foot-tall alien-like figure” atop a hill on one of the country’s islands.
The sightings took place on the island of Ilha do Mel off the coast of Southeast Brazil, with one of the eyewitnesses saying, “It’s too big to be a person.” The woman recording the video also claimed it would be impossible for a human to get up there.

The Brazilian government even commented on the video, jokingly writing, “Surreaaaaaaal what happened on Ilha do Mel!!! Verão Maior Paraná is another story and even ‘strange beings’ came to check it out. And you, will you be left out?”
But, the alleged alien is now speaking out.
As it turns out, the alien-like figure was 6-foot-5 Italian basketball player Felipe Motta, who plays for Brazil’s Flamengo basketball club.
Motta said that he was out for a hike when the video was captured, and he shared videos from the hike as evidence.
Because the video was taken from such a low angle, Motta looked larger than life. He jokingly said that in the future he will make sure to let everyone know before he hits the trails so there is no further confusion.
