The Sugar Bowl on New Year’s Day delivered in a big way, with the Washington Huskies edging out the Texas Longhorns in an instant classic that went down to the final seconds.
But fans viewing at home had something else catch their attention.
While the game was being broadcast on ESPN, cameras took a stroll down Bourbon Street to give us a look at New Orleans. And anyone who has ever been to Bourbon Street knows that you never can be sure of what you will come across.
For ESPN, that meant accidentally airing a woman flashing her breasts.
After noticing the error, ESPN issued an apology.
“We regret that this happened and apologize that the video aired in the telecast,” ESPN’s Bill Hofheimer told the Associated Press.
Ultimately, the little mishap won’t cost ESPN anything because the network does not fall under the jurisdiction of the FCC.
As for the game itself, Washington came away with a hard-fought 37-31 win over Texas to punch their ticket to next week’s College Football Playoff National Championship Game against the top-ranked Michigan Wolverines.
