With the 2023 college football season winding down, the Maxwell Football Club is continuing to roll out its weekly honors. Following Week 12 of the 2023 campaign, the Maxwell Football Club announced its latest Maxwell Award Player of the Week and Bednarik Award Player of the Week.
The Maxwell Award Player of the Week will be recognized for overall performance on offense, defense, or special teams. The Chuck Bednarik Award Player of the Week, meanwhile, will be honored for outstanding defensive play.
Maxwell Award Player of the Week honors went to Oregon star quarterback Bo Nix, who continued to add to a stellar campaign that has him sitting atop the Heisman Watch List.
Nix completed 24-of-29 passes for 404 yards and a whopping six touchdowns in a win over Arizona State, and currently leads the nation in completion percentage.
Defensive honors, meanwhile, went to Washington cornerback Jabbar Muhammad after defeating No. 10 Oregon State.
The junior defensive back recorded two interceptions, four pass break-ups, and a fumble recovery.

Maxwell Award Player of the Week: Bo Nix, QB, Oregon
Oregon quarterback Bo Nix has been named the Maxwell Award Player of The Week after their dominant performance against Arizona State this past weekend. The 6’2 217 senior completed 24-of-29 passes for 404 yards and six touchdowns. Nix currently leads the nation with a 78.1 completion percentage and is on pace to break the NCAA single-season record, as well as being the only FBS player this season with multiple six touchdown games. Nix would also become the first ever Duck with four career 400-yard passing games, with his 35 passing touchdowns placing him second in Oregon’s single-season history ranking.
Bednarik Award Player of the Week: Jabbar Muhammad, CB, Washington
Washington cornerback Jabbar Muhammad has been named the Bednarik Player of The Week after their win over No. 10 Oregon State this past weekend. The junior from Desoto, Texas would have a stellar day recording two interceptions, four pass break-ups, and a fumble recovery. Additionally, Muhammad currently sits at 9th in the nation for passes defended.
