UFC 295 is set to go down on Saturday, November 11, at the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York City. But just over two weeks out from the pay-per-view event, UFC president Dana White announced some major changes.
UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones has been forced out of his title defense against former champion Stipe Miocic after suffering a pectoral injury that will require surgery and keep him sidelined for around 8 months.
Now, the event will be headlined by a bout between former light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka and former middleweight titleholder Alex Pereira for the vacant 205-pound belt.
In the co-main event, Tom Aspinall vs. Sergei Pavlovich will now be for the interim heavyweight title.
There is hope that the Jones vs. Miocic bout can be rescheduled in the future, but with Miocic already at 41 years old and an interim champion earning the shot at the belt, it remains to be seen if or when a potential rescheduling could take place.
