UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones’ highly-anticipated title defense against former champion Stipe Miocic at UFC 295 is off, UFC president Dana White announced.

The UFC boss took to social media to announce Jones has been forced out of the bout due to an injury that will require surgery.

According to White, Jones tore a pectoral tendon off the bone in training on Monday night. The injury and surgery are expected to keep the champion out of action for around eight months.

UFC 295 is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 11, at Madison Square Garden.

With Jones vs. Miocic now off of the card, White announced changes to the main and co-main event, along with new title implications.

The new main event for UFC 295 will be former champion Jiri Prochazka taking on former middleweight titleholder Alex Pereira for the vacant light-heavyweight title.

In the co-main event, Tom Aspinall vs. Sergei Pavlovich will now be for the interim heavyweight title.

Miocic will no longer compete on the card.
