Members of the ESPN College GameDay crew and co-workers of Pat McAfee are coming to his defense amid an influx in criticism and the recent publishing of an unfavorable poll claiming people “don’t like” him on the college football pre-game show.

In a recent poll conducted by The Athletic, the results show that a majority of people do not enjoy McAfee on GameDay with a whopping 48.9 percent of responses checking “Don’t like it.” Other options included “Like It” at 30.1 percent and “No Opinion” at 21 percent.

McAfee responded saying he knows he is “not for everyone” and that he has not yet signed a new contract with College GameDay.

But if those who work with McAfee have their say, McAfee is here to stay.

ESPN reporter Jen Lada shared her thoughts on McAfee and delivered nothing but positive words about his work ethic and the energy he brings to the show.

“McAfee doesn’t need my endorsement AT ALL but he has made ‘CGD’ better & invigorated our team” Lada wrote on X. “His fearlessness dares us to question formula & take chances. TO GROW. A supremely smart/talented entertainer & positive teammate who respects the sport, the show & its hardworking people.”

After Lada shared her message, the sentiment was echoed by McAfee’s College GameDay co-hosts Kirk Herbstreit and Desmond Howard.

So while there may be a segment of fans who think McAfee is too over the top or let their ideological differences with some of the guests who frequent McAfee’s daily show impact their view on his presence on ESPN, those who are actually around him and working with him have nothing but positive things to say.

And those, quite frankly, are the voices that matter.
