Ohio State football fans got to celebrate a big win over Penn State in a top-10 showdown over the weekend, and they got to continue their enjoyment on Sunday thanks to a hilariously unfortunate headline from The Columbus Dispatch.
The No. 3 Buckeyes scored a 20-12 win over No. 10 Penn State, who were ranked No. 7 on Saturday, and the headline for the important win read, “No. 3 Ohio State rides ‘D’ to win over No. 7 Penn St.”
Pause.
Surely someone had to see what was going on here.

While the editors may have overlooked the headline or simply ignored it for the laughs, the people on X (formerly known as Twitter) definitely noticed.
So, as the internet tends to do, the jokes came flying on social media.

This reminds me of the time someone (not me) got fired from the @UTKDailyBeacon for a headline after the Tennessee-South Carolina 🏀 game.
