One of the newest traditions in college football has been the introduction of turnover gimmicks. It all started when the Miami Hurricanes started showing a turnover chain when their defense would make a great play. The turnover chain soon became a mainstay on other sidelines, which then grew into teams carrying turnover belts, turnover sledgehammers, and even a turnover tire for the folks in Akron. However, FIU is now bringing the crowd into their turnover celebrations.

And, yes, they are using it on the road in enemy territory.@FIUFootball pic.twitter.com/DOPvdnG7Bl

Wednesday, FIU took on New Mexico State in a C-USA matchup that had all gambling degenerates like myself keeping eyes on the scoreboard. However, all bets were forgotten when Golden Panthers defensive back CJ Christian unleashed the most extraordinary turnover celebration in all of college football. Christian unveiled the turnover t-shirt cannon. This is an unbelievable idea that is a refreshing change of pace to how turnovers are celebrated in college football.

Not only is the cannon a great addition to college football lore, but its debut to guts. Shooting t-shirts into the crowd during an away game is the epitome of not giving a single F about an opponent’s feelings, which is the correct way to dance on the graves of a challenger. Unfortunately, FIU lost the game 34-17 to the Aggies. But nobody will be talking about the loss, thanks to the turnover t-shirt cannon.
They are on the road! FIU gets a turnover and shoots one of their t-shirts into the opposing team’s crowd. I’m a big fan of the level of disrespect shown here. https://t.co/OtFsGyirL0

The Golden Panthers were searching for their first victory in conference play on Wednesday night, but it wasn’t in the cards. The t-shirt cannon deserved more in it’s sideline debut. However, maybe it’s just the spark this program needed to put themselves in a positive direction during conference play. UTEP will be FIU’s next opponent and potentially the next victim of the dreaded t-shirt cannon. Say a prayer for them if you can.
The t-shirt cannon will surely open the minds of every program around the country moving forward. Who would say no to a turnover cannon that shoots hotdogs into the crowd? That alone would have me checking out some MACtion on a Tuesday night. College football needs more turnover celebration gadgets on the sidelines. Imagine a Utah player bringing out their new Dodge Ram and attempting to do doughnuts on the artificial turf sideline. What a wonderful world that would be.
