Aaron Rodgers has broken his silence.
Rodgers joined the New York Jets this offseason as one of the biggest acquisitions in the team’s history, and fans had hoped that he could be the missing piece to finally make the team contenders.
Unfortunately, the hype was silenced just four plays into Rodgers’ Jets debut after suffering a season-ending Achilles injury against the Buffalo Bills on Monday night.
Now, Rodgers has taken to social media for his first statement since the Jets announced that he would be out for the remainder of the season.
“Thank you to every person that has reached out, called, texted, DM’d, connected through a friend, etc. It has meant a ton to me, and I’ll try and get back to all of you soon,” Rodgers wrote on Instagram. “I’m completely heartbroken and moving through all of the emotions, but deeply touched and humbled by the support and love.
“Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I begin the healing process today.
“The night is darkest before the dawn. And I shall rise yet again. Proud of my guys, 1-0.”
With his statement, Rodgers seems to imply that he will be returning to the Jets for the 2024-25 NFL season despite speculation that the Achilles ending could end his career.
The good news is that Rodgers is in good spirits, and if he is able to be on the sidelines to help provide leadership for the team and continue to mentor Zach Wilson, there still could be hope for the Jets to put together a solid 2023-24 campaign.
Up next for the Jets is a trip to Arlington where they will face the 1-0 Dallas Cowboys, who defeated the New York Giants, 40-0, in Week 1.
