Houston Rockets guard Kevin Porter Jr. was arrested at a New York City hotel on Monday morning after allegedly attacking his girlfriend, former WNBA player Kyrse Gondrezick.
Porter was arrested on felony charges of assault and strangulation after the incident at the Millenium Hotel in Times Square.
Gondrezick was transported to the hospital for evaluation.
Now, more details are surfacing and the injuries Gondrezick suffered are severe.
At Porter’s arraignment on Tuesday, prosecutors revealed that Gondrezick suffered a fractured neck vertebra and a cut above her right eye.

According to a criminal complaint, Gondrezick told police that Porter punched her repeatedly in the face with a closed fist, cutting her above the right eye and causing bruising and substantial pain to her face.
Gondrezick said the NBA player also forcefully squeezed her neck with his hands, causing her difficulty breathing, redness and bruising to her neck. Hospital testing showed that Gondrezick, 26, sustained a fractured vertebra in her neck, the criminal complaint said.
Porter has been ordered to stay away from Gondrezick.
The 23-year-old Porter is due back in court on October 16 which is the same day the Rockets are scheduled to play a preseason game against the San Antonio Spurs and two weeks before the NBA season tips off.
The Rockets, meanwhile, released a statement this week saying the organization is “in the process of gathering information and had no further comment.”
Porter has had a number of off-court incidents throughout his playing career, beginning with a suspension during his lone season at USC for “conduct issues.” He was also involved in a heated locker room incident while in Cleveland with members of the team staff and general manager Kob Altman which ultimately led to his trade to the Rockets, while receiving a one-game suspension in Houston after leaving in the middle of a game during the 2021-22 season.
Despite his off-court issues, the Rockets signed Porter to a four-year contract extension last season worth up to $82.5 million. However, to protect themselves, the Rockets structured the deal so only $15.9 million for this season is fully guaranteed.
Last season, Porter averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 assists, and 5.3 rebounds per game. But now, his NBA future looks like it could be in jeopardy.
