Peyton Manning heading back to his alma mater.
According to a report from ESPN.com, Manning is returning to the University of Tennessee to serve as a professor during the Fall 2023 semester at the College of Communication and Information.
The 47-year-old Manning “will partner with the CCI faculty and teach a variety of topics that align with the college’s curriculum, including sports reporting, video production and performance, leadership and communication, and public speaking.”
Throughout the semester, Manning will be a featured expert to share his experiences with the students in select classes.
“There is no other ambassador for our college and university like Peyton Manning, and we are proud to welcome him to the college’s faculty,” Joseph Mazer, dean of the College of Communication and Information, said in a statement. “Peyton is a true Volunteer, and I look forward to our students gaining invaluable knowledge from him as we continue to prepare the next generation of communication and information leaders.”
You have to admit, it’d be pretty incredible to walk into class and see Professor Manning.
Before his Hall of Fame career in the NFL and turning into a media sensation, Manning led the Volunteers to a 1997 SEC Championship and earned a degree in speech communications.
When you look at his post-playing career — which includes the wildly popular ManningCast — his degree has certainly paid off.
“My time as a student in the College of Communication and Information was a foundational experience during which I learned critical skills and messaging techniques that I continue to put to use almost daily,” Manning said. “I look forward to working with the college’s talented faculty, and directly with students in an effort to ensure they are well prepared for their future careers.”
One thing I am looking forward to the most is seeing videos and photos come out showing Manning working his skills and charm in the classroom.
