NASCAR’s Alex Bowman Suffers Fractured Vertebra In Wild Sprint Car Accident

NASCAR driver Alex Bowman suffered a serious injury in a scary accident this week.

During a sprint car race in the High Limit Car series in West Burlington, Iowa, Bowman was driving his No. 55 car in the opening heat when he made contact with Conner Morrell. The contact sent Bowman’s car flying into the air before flipping multiple times and coming to a stop.

Bowman walked away under his own power but later learned that he suffered a fractured vertebra in the accident and could miss up to a month of action.

Bowman released a statement after the accident saying he is feeling better and focusing on his return.

“First, I want to let everyone know I’m feeling ok. Being out of the car is never an update any driver wants to make,” the Hendricks Motorsport driver said. “I’m thankful to Josh Berry and Hendrick Motorsports for stepping up to the plate and I know the entire Ally Racing team will give it their all these next few weeks.”

“I’ll be doing everything I can at home to help ensure my recovery is as quick as possible to get back in the 48 car soon.”

Bowman has won seven races during his NASCAR career and has also raced in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

While Bowman is recovering, Josh Berry will serve as the interim driver.
