The Professional Fighters League kicked off its 2023 regular season on Saturday night with PFL 1 at The Theater at Virgin Hotels in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event featured fights in the featherweight and light heavyweight divisions.
In the main event, 2022 PFL featherweight champion Brendan Loughnane returned to defend his crown against former world champion Marlon Moraes of Brazil.
Loughnane wasted no time making a statement to the rest of the featherweight division that he was gunning for the crown once again, making quick work of Moraes and using devastating leg kicks to earn a TKO victory just one minute into the second round.
In the co-main event, 2022 PFL light heavyweight champion Rob Wilkinson made his 2023 debut against the heavy-handed former UFC title challenger Thiago “Maretta” Santos. After three hard-fought rounds, Wilkinson was able to have his hand raised with a decision win, earning a 29-28 nod on all three judges’ scorecards.
