Andie Paige Rosafort, a 31-year-old former lunch aide at New Fairfield Middle School in Connecticut, has been hit with multiple charges after allegedly sending a 14-year-old student nude photos and videos through Snapchat over the course of six months.
Rosafort allegedly sent multiple nude photos, videos of herself masturbating, and also had sex with the student. She initially slid into the boy’s messages by texting, “You want to see something?” and sending a nude photo, via WTNH-News 8.
The New Fairfield Police Department began investigating Rosafort after a friend of the victim told her parents of the suspected sexual assault. The parents then reported the information to the police. The boy allegedly left a party to have sex with the woman in her car, before telling his fiends and parents because he felt “very weird and guilty” about the incident.
Shortly after the allegations came to light, Rosafort resigned from her position. She had previously been warned about her interactions with students and was told not to contact them on social media.
Rosafort has been charged with sexual assault in the second degree and use of a computer to entice a minor to engage in sexual activity, injury or risk of injury, or impairing the morals of a minor.

Over the course of the past year alone, a handful of teachers have been arrested on similar charges, including 25-year-old substitute teacher Alexis Mercedes Boberg in Baltimore, Beulah High School teacher Kelsie Schmidt in North Dakota, Rancocas Valley Regional High School teacher Alexandra Reiner in New Jersey, and 50-year-old Florida substitute teacher Angela Jean Stanton in Florida. Additionally, Texas teachers Meredith Null and Edna Longoria were arrested on similar charges.
As for why the number of these incidents has seemingly increased, studies suggest that smartphones are the primary reason for the spike in illicit relationships, as it allows teachers to communicate with minors without supervision.
According to a report from the Texas Education Association, smartphones make it easy for teachers to privately text and talk with students and also make it possible for teachers and students to share explicit images.
