Derek Carr has a new home, and the New Orleans Saints have their new quarterback.
On Monday, March 6, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that the Saints had emerged as the favorites to land the former Las Vegas Raiders signal-caller and were working on a deal. A few hours later, the deal was finalized and Carr is heading from Sin City to The Big Easy.
And he’s getting paid.
According to Rapoport, Carr and the Saints agreed to a four-year deal worth $150 million. The deal includes $100 million in total guarantees, with $70 million effectively fully guaranteed. Rapoport notes that Carr “structures his deal to accommodate Saints’ cap issues.”
Carr wasted no time saying hello to his new team and their fan base.

Last season, the 31-year-old Carr threw for 3,522 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. Throughout his career, Carr has completed 64.6 percent of his passes to the tune of 35,222 yards, 217 touchdowns, and 99 interceptions.
In a division with plenty of quarterback questions, Carr immediately becomes the most established quarterback in the NFC South.
We will have to see how it all plays out on the field.
