Ja Morant has been accused of violent behavior in a newly released police report.
The Memphis Grizzlies star is being accused of punching a 17-year-old “12 to 13 times” during a pickup basketball game at his home last summer. Morant reportedly went into his house and “re-emerged with a gun visible in the waistband of his pants and his hand on the weapon” before his Morant’s father, Tee, yelled at him to go back inside.
Morant admitted to swinging first during the fight, but said it was self-defense after the teenager threw a basketball at his head.
TMZ Sports had reported that the teenager filed a lawsuit last September. The teenager claims he accidentally hit Morant in the face before the Grizzlies star struck him with a closed fist multiple times.
Morant also filed a police report of his own, claiming the teen threatened to “come back and light this place up like fireworks” and he feared for his safety.
According to Molly Hensley-Clancy of the Washington Post, Morant is also accused of threatening the head of security at a Memphis mall just days before the alleged assault. During the altercation with the secutiy guard, a member of Morant’s group shoved him in the head.
