Tommy Fury doesn’t have time for any excuses from Jake Paul.
Following the first loss of Paul’s career this past weekend in Saudi Arabia — a split-decision that went in favor of Fury — the YouTuber-turned-boxer said he would not make any excuses despite listing off a handful of them while being interviewed inside of the ring.
Paul had said he suffered an arm injury and was “really sick” during the lead-up to the pay-per-view showdown.
“All respect to Tommy, he won. I think we deserve that rematch,” Paul said. “I don’t know if I agree with the judges. I got a 10-8 round twice… I felt flat, I got sick really bad twice in this camp, injured my arm. But I lost, I’m not making excuses.”
Paul has since activated a rematch clause in the contract and said he plans to fight Fury again before a match with fellow YouTuber KSI.
But as far as Fury is concerned, the excuses are a bunch of rubbish. Fury responded to Paul’s claims during an interview with IFLTV on Monday.
“HE WASN’T ILL WHEN HE WAS POSTING ALL THE WAY THROUGH ON SOCIAL MEDIA”

“It wouldn’t be my approach if I lost the fight, I’d say fair and square the better man won, even if I had been ill,” Fury said. “I don’t believe that he’s been ill because he wasn’t ill when he was posting all the way through social media about, you know how great his camp’s been… so I wouldn’t buy into that, he got beat fair and square last night and that’s it.
“If he wants to make excuses, then he can, but it is what is, he got beat.”
The 23-year-old Fury is now 9-0 in his professional boxing career with four knockouts. As an added bonus for Fury, he gets to parade around with a special new WBC “Diriyah Champion” belt for winning the pay-per-view showdown.
