The MLB regular season is just mere days away. As fans and the media give their opinions on pitch clocks, larger bases, and season predictions, longtime Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto had an interesting prediction for his team’s 2023 campaign.

Votto gave his prediction to the MLB’s question on how each team will fare in the NL Central this season:

“Extra terrestrials arrive on earth, April 15th. The 12-2 Reds and the rest of the planet learn from, communicate with, and befriend our alien friends. This process takes 5 months. Play resumes in October. The Reds sweep the playoffs and are World Series champs. Side note: the aliens ask if I would like to accompany them on their ship back to their planet. I oblige. Never to be seen again.”

Votto has been in Cincinnati, and he has seen some things when it comes to the diamond. His latest prediction, however, will go down as an all-timer for the future baseball Hall-of-Famer. Yeah, I said it. It will be Votto’s 17th season as a Redleg, and the Canadian Banger has been a fan favorite since he first appeared at Great American Ballpark.

If Votto’s prediction is correct, the Cincinnati Reds and their fans will have a 2023 that will never be forgotten. The Queen City’s favorite baseball club will open up its 2023 season on March 30th against longtime foe the Pittsburgh Pirates.
