Former Indianapolis Colts offensive lineman Joe Staysniak is in trouble with the law following a domestic incident involving his son.
According to the Indianapolis Star, the 56-year-old Staysniak punched his son, Lucas Staysniak, and strangled his son’s boyfriend. Police were called to the scene shortly before midnight and arrested Staysniak in the early hours of the morning on Tuesday.
Staysniak was arrested on charges of battery, pointing a firearm, intimidation, strangulation, and domestic battery.
The incident allegedly began after a neighbor called him to report a suspicious car in his front yard. After approaching the vehicle and attempting to open the door, the altercation began.

“Lucas advised that his father opened the rear right passenger door and that when he did his he [sic] grabbed [passenger’s] hood and was choking him,” the affidavit read, via New York Post. “Lucas stated that his father then punched him, causing his lip to bleed and then punched [passenger]. Lucas stated that his father then displayed a firearm and told he and [passenger] that they’re lucky he saw who it was.”
The passenger claims Staysniak held the gun “against the side of this face at one point.”
Staysniak was drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the seventh round of the 1990 NFL Draft out of Ohio State, however, he never played for the Chargers. He had a brief stint with the Buffalo bills, Kansas City Chiefs, and Arizona Cardinals. The bulk of his NFL career was with the Colts from 1992-1995. He started in 33 of 63 games played.
