Vince McMahon is reportedly looking to cash in on his years spent building WWE after stepping down less than a year ago in June 2022 due to hush-money allegations.
According to a report from Bloomberg, the 77-year-old McMahon is looking to sell WWE for as much as a whopping $9 billion.
From the report:
Yet McMahon may not find many buyers eager to pay his price considering the shaky global economy and rising interest rates. A valuation of $9 billion amounts to about seven times the company’s $1.29 billion in sales last year, and 23 times its adjusted operating income before depreciation and amortization, both at the high end for the entertainment industry.
The report states Middle Eastern investors are among the potential buyers, along with Endeavor Group Holdings, which owns the UFC after paying out $4 billion.
Along with a potential sale, WWE is in the early stages of negotiations for its next TV partners, though it is possible the company could renew its current deals with FOX and Comcast’s Peacock streaming service.
