A Michigan football staffer has been placed on leave amid an investigation by the school’s police department.

According to a report from ESPN, Wolverines co-offensive coordinator Matt Weiss is currently on leave while the University of Michigan police department investigates a “report of computer access crimes” at Schembechler Hall.

Weiss has not been with the team or in the building recently, per the report, and he has not been involved in recruiting.

“The University of Michigan Police Department is investigating a report of computer access crimes that occurred at Schembechler Hall during December 21-23, 2022,” University of Michigan deputy chief of police Crystal James said in the statement. “Since this is an ongoing investigation there is no additional information to share.”

The 39-year-old Weiss is in his second season with the Michigan football program after initially joining in 2021 as the quarterbacks coach.

Weiss acknowledged the investigation but said he would not comment further.

“I am aware of the ongoing investigation by the University of Michigan Police Department and fully cooperating with investigators. I look forward to the matter being resolved. Out of respect for the integrity of the investigation, I will not have any further comment,” the statement read.

The University of Michigan Police Department has said it will not discuss further details as the investigation is ongoing.
