Miami Dolphins starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is entering concussion protocol for the second time this season. The third-year quarterback took a hard headshot to the ground in the Dolphins’ 26-20 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Christmas Day.
Of course, this isn’t the first time Tua has made headlines this season with head injuries.
Earlier this year, fans witnessed a terrifying incident with Tua on Thursday Night Football, when the quarterback took a scary shot to the head just four days after wobbling to the huddle after another brutal hit on the prior Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.
Concussion specialist Chris Nowinski had this to say on the potential concussion on Tagovailoa:
Sadly, it happened.
Tua Tagovailoa is in the #concussion protocol after reporting symptoms today, likely from this play in Q2 ⬇️. Missed by team again, despite poor play & 3 INT's after. 3rd concussion of season-no doctor in their right mind can clear him this year. Season over. https://t.co/qbZLlgvk5S pic.twitter.com/NcMb5ZGOf4— Chris Nowinski, Ph.D. (@ChrisNowinski1) December 27, 2022

With so much heat, and rightfully so, on the Dolphins when Tua suffered head injuries earlier in the year. I don’t think there’s any other option for the team but to rest Tua for the remainder of the season.
The Dolphins will finish up the season with a pair of AFC East matchups with the New England Patriots and New York Jets.
