As reported by Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson’s Twitter account, Funchess is seriously thinking about an NBA run as certain NFL teams contemplate the idea of bringing the former Michigan Wolverine on board. Funchess tells Robinson that three NFL teams have been in discussions with the form Indianapolis Colts receiver.
Funchess hasn’t played in a regular-season NFL game since 2019 as a member of the Indianapolis Colts. In his five-year NFL career, Funchess grabbed 21 receiving touchdowns while tallying 2,265 yards receiving. Funchess spent his first four seasons with the Carolina Panthers before his pit stop with the Colts in 2019.
Making a jump to another professional sport is a huge mountain to climb. Many have tried, while only a few have succeeded as dual-sport athletes. Being a dominant three-sport athlete in high school may not equal an NBA opportunity. However, Funchess is confident in his skill set on the hardwood to achieve the ultimate basketball dream.
