The Stanford football program has found its new head coach.
According to reports, longtime head coach David Shaw — who stepped down in late November — will be replaced by Troy Taylor. Taylor has spent the past three coaches leading FCS program Sacramento State.
During his time at Sacramento State, Taylor had a 30-8 overall record with three Big Sky championships and playoff appearances.
Taylor previously served as the offensive coordinator at Utah and was also a former player and assistant at Cal.

Former Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett was also reported to be in the mix before withdrawing himself from consideration last week.
Taylor has big shoes to fill as the new Cardinal head cocah after Shaw resigned following 12 seasons leading the program. Shaw is the winningest coach in program history with a record of 96-54.
“A week ago, 10 days ago, I was gung-ho to be the person to lead us there, and over the last few days I realized it was time,” Shaw said, via the Washington Post. “It was time for me to step aside, time for the next group to come in, and hopefully whoever they hire next wins more games than I do. That would be awesome.”
During his tenure at Stanford, Shaw led the Cardinal to three Pac-12 Championships and five double-digit win seasons.
