It was a big weekend in college football. Some teams took leaps forward, while others are reassessing the rest of their season. While the loser will be licking their wounds on this Halloween Monday, the victors will be looking ahead at more significant moments ahead. Many teams ate a W this weekend, but only a select few brought home the biggest wins of the weekend. Here are 5 teams that won the weekend.
5. Louisville

A program that was pronounced dead by some before the season even started (me), the Louisville Cardinals pulled off a dominating performance with a 48-21 victory over a Top 10 Wake Forest team. I despise giving props to a rival like Louisville, but I’ll give credit where it’s due; Louisville beat an overrated Wake Forest team and deserves to celebrate their victory. Wake Forest isn’t a serious Top 10 team, and they proved that this past weekend.
4. TCU

A magical season for the TCU Horned Frogs continued to roll on after the purple people eaters took down West Virginia on Saturday night. Them Frogs are cruising through the Big 12 as they stand on top of the conference standings. TCU looks to be the new king of the Big 12 as Oklahoma and Texas are moving on to be jobbers to Georgia, Alabama, and the rest of the SEC. This season could be the start of a long Big-12 stranglehold for TCU.
3. Tennessee

A game I’m ready to put behind me but know all too well as a Kentucky fan, Tennessee rolled over their SEC East rival Saturday, making everyone notice that the Volunteers could be back this time. The Vols took the Wildcats out back and gave them the Old Yeller treatment with a 44-6 slaughtering. A big showdown looms this weekend when Tennessee takes on Georgia. A game that will more than likely decide who will represent the East in the SEC Championship.
2. Kansas State
What a performance

In my opinion, the Kansas State victory on Saturday isn’t getting talked about nearly enough by the national media. The Wildcats beat Top 10 Oklahoma State 48-0. That’s forty-eight to zero for those not keeping count. We can have the argument that the Cowboys are overrated, but being held to zero is a different level to the conversation. The Wildcats deserve all the helmet stickers we can give them this week.
1. Ohio State

Going into Happy Valley and getting a victory is never an easy task. Ohio State, however, was up for the task on Saturday, taking it to Penn State in the second half and winning by a larger margin than anyone expected. The Buckeyes continue to prove each week that they belong in the College Football Playoff discussion, and C.J. Stroud will be seeing his draft stock rise this weekend. It seems as if fans will once again be treated to another undefeated Buckeyes-Wolverines showdown to end the season.
