ONE Championship returned this week with ONE on Prime Video 3 at Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The event was scheduled to be headlined by a bantamweight championship bout between John Lineker and top contender Fabricio Andrade. Unfortunately, complications on Thursday led to some changes in the stakes for the main event. Lineker failed to hit the contracted weight limit and was stripped of his title, so he was ineligible to reclaim his title on Friday, while Andrade could still win the belt.
But when it was all said and done, we were left with no winner.
The fight came to a premature end after Lineker took a brutal low blow from Andrade. The unintentional foul was so devastating that it actually shattered Lineker’s cup and left him writhing in pain. After a brief timeout for the foul, Lineker was unable to continue and the fight was declared a no contest.
While the main event came to an anticlimactic ending, there were some highlights throughout the night. In the co-main event, Regian Eersel claimed the Lightweight Muay Thai World Championship with a split-decision victory over Sinsamut Klinmee in a hard-fought bout.
Earlier in the night, 19-year-old phenom Kade Ruotolo claimed the Lightweight Submission Grappling World Championship with a first-round heel hook of Uali Kurzhev.
