The Utah football team will be taking the field on Saturday with a special tribute to former teammates for their top 25 showdown.
When the Utes run onto the field at Rice-Eccles Stadium for their game against the No. 7 USC Trojans, Utah will be wearing some incredible hand-painted helmets in honor of Ty Jordan and Aaron Lowe. Jordan passed away on December 25, 2020, after an accidental gunshot to the abdomen, while Lowe was shot and killed at a party in Salt Lake City on September 26, 2021. Jordan wore No. 22, and Lowe also wore the number in honor of his late friend.
The black helmets feature a painting of Jordan and Lowe on the sides, with a 22 decal shaped like a heart on the back and the initials TJAL inside. It’s a truly incredible tribute.

“Hopefully it makes us all dig deeper and really look to go for that twenty-two percent, play like they played. Hard, physical, just attack everything and hopefully we get that type of atmosphere from it and the team,” Quarterback Cameron Rising said, via Sports Illustrated.
In addition to the custom helmets, the Utes will be wearing black jerseys and black pants.
