Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has provided a health update on star quarterback Dak Prescott, who suffered a fractured thumb in Week 1 of the regular season.
During an appearance on 105.3 The FAN Tuesday morning, Jones revealed that Prescott is getting closer to a return to the field. However, Prescott still has some work to do before he can return.
“We’re just starting the week,” Jones said about the possibility of Prescott playing against the Los Angeles Rams, via Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News. “Let’s see how the week goes.”
Jerry Jones when asked on @1053thefan whether it's fair to say Cowboys QB Dak Prescott (thumb) won't play Sunday at Rams: "We're just starting the week. Let's see how the week goes." Any chance Cooper Rush starts in favor of a healthy Prescott? "No, no. As I see it right today."

As for what is holding Prescott back, Jones said that the quarterback’s thumb and ability to grip the ball is “not well enough to play.”
Prescott will undergo further evaluation on Tuesday.
Jerry Jones said on 105.3 The Fan that Dak Prescott’s thumb is healing just fine but the quarterback’s grip on the ball is “not well enough to play,” at the moment. Prescott is scheduled to meet with the doctor today.

In Prescott’s absence, Cooper Rush has gone undefeated as the team’s starting quarterback and has Dallas sitting at a 3-1 record.
The Cowboys and Rams are scheduled to kickoff at 4:25 p.m. ET in Week 5 on Sunday.
