Tennessee football player Savion Herring has been dismissed from the team.
Earlier this week, Herring was arrested on a domestic assault charge after reportedly getting into an argument with his girlfriend in the dorm room. According to the Knoxville News Sentinel, the junior college transfer reportedly punched his girlfriend after grabbing her arm to prevent her from leaving the room.
Tennessee football spokesman Bill Martin then confirmed that Herring, who did not play in a game for the Vols after transferring from Monroe College, was dismissed.
The Vols are currently ranked No. 15 in the country after starting the season with wins over Ball State and Pittsburgh. They will return to action on Saturday night against the Akron Zips in their home opener.
