The drama continues leading up to the scheduled Jake Paul vs. Tommy Fury match.
The two men, who were originally scheduled to face off last year before Fury withdrew from the bout due to injury, were scheduled to finally enter the ring together on August 6 at New York City’s iconic Madison Square Garden.
However, ahead of Wednesday’s press conference, Fury has hit another snag. Fury took to social media to announce that he has been denied entry into the United States.
Fury’s father is also unable to travel to the United States due to previous convictions, while his older brother Tyson Fury has also been denied entry in recent weeks, according to reports. Rumors have surfaced that the elder Fury was stopped from entering the United States due to his ties to suspected mob boss Daniel Kinahan, who was sanctioned by the United States in April and is believed to be the leader of the Kinahan Organised Crime Group.
Tommy Fury’s travel issues, however, are reportedly unrelated.

“Me and my team arrived at Heathrow Airport ready to fly out and as soon as I entered the airport I was pulled to one side and told by a Homeland Security officer that my ESTA had been denied and that I wasn’t able to travel to the USA for a reason I apparently know. I can stand here and say I have done nothing wrong and I have no clue why I’m not allowed to travel to the USA. I’ve been training for a fight this whole time and that’s all I’ve been doing. I have no clue why I’m not allowed to travel and neither does my team or my lawyers,” Fury said.
“Now I’ve got to go to the embassy trying to resolve it and I’m in the middle of training. I don’t know why this has happened a huge shock to me and my team. It’s government issues and it’s a lot bigger than the fight right now and I’m trying to get it sorted.”
The 23-year-old Fury is 7-0 in his professional boxing career with four knockouts. Like Paul, Fury brings some crossover appeal after starring on the hit UK reality series Love Island where he finished as the season’s runner-up.
The 25-year-old Paul, meanwhile, is 5-0 with four wins by knockout. In his last bout, Paul secured a brutal knockout victory over former UFC champion Tyron Woodley.
