MLB Suspends 12 Players, Coaches For Roles In Angels-Mariners Brawl

MLB has handed out suspensions for the wild brawl at the Seattle Mariners-Los Angeles Angels game over the weekend. A total of 12 players and coaches were punished for their roles in the brawl.

Angels manager Phil Nevin received the longest ban at 10 games.

Jesse Winker was suspended for 7 games for escalating the situation after appearing to be intentionally hit by Angels pitcher Andrew Wantz, who received a three-game suspension.

Three players received five-game bans, two players will miss three games, four players will miss two games — including Raisel Iglesias, who threw a box of sunflower seeds onto the field — and Angels catching coach Bill Haselman received a one-game ban.

Most of the players appealed their suspensions, but those who chose to accept them immediately began serving them on Monday night.

During the Mariners game at home against the Baltimore Orioles, Winker received a standing ovation from the Seattle fans. Unfortunately for the Mariners, they fell to the Orioles, 9-2.
