Matt Ryan will have a new home for the 2021-22 NFL season.
On Monday, trade talks between the Atlanta Falcons and Indianapolis Colts quickly escalated and the veteran quarterback will now suit up for Indy.
Ryan was due a bonus of $7.5 million at 4:00 p.m. ET if he was still on the Falcons roster, so the team had an important decision to make. Ultimately, they were able to get the deal done with Indianapolis and will receive a third-round draft pick as compensation.

Ryan will receive a restructured contract in Indianapolis that results in more guaranteed money.
For the Falcons, however, Ryan’s trade results in a historic cap hit.
Matt Ryan’s trade will incur a dead cap hit of $40.525M for the Falcons, the largest dead cap hit in NFL history by nearly $7M.

As for what’s next for the Falcons, reports are beginning to surface that Atlanta could target Tennessee Titans signal-caller Marcus Mariota as a potential replacement.
Now watch for Marcus Mariota to the #Falcons. Sources say Atlanta is expected to pursue a reunion with Mariota and Arthur Smith, who was with Mariota during his time with the #Titans.
