Amazon has been streaming Thursday Night Football games, but now the service is hoping to encourage the NFL to consider another scheduling change.
According to John Ourand of Sports Business Journal, Amazon is making the push for the NFL to schedule a standalone game on Black Friday.
“Amazon has made a little bit of noise about scheduling a game on Black Friday. A Black Friday game would complement Amazon’s e-commerce business, and it would be similar to its Premier League strategy in Britain, where it carries all of the league’s Boxing Day games. But this store may be closed; the NFL has been lukewarm to this idea.”
I am 100 percent in.
Any time you can get an extra day of football is a bonus, and with people at home on the day after Thanksgiving, it is a natural fit.
We have already shifted from going out to crowded stores for minimal sales in favor of shopping online, so why not tune into a regular-season NFL game while we are at it?
Sure, the NFL may not be completely on board yet, but there is always hope for a change.
As for how the NFL season will kick off, Ourand notes the most likely game to open Week 1 on Thursday Night Football is the Buffalo Bills at Los Angeles Rams.
