Another day, another Joe Rogan controversy.
As people continue to come for the podcast host and comedian, the latest criticism comes from a viral video clip that shows Rogan repeatedly using the n-word. Immediately after the clip went viral, people began calling for Spotify to pull Rogan’s podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, which is the No. 1 podcast in the world.
Just last week, people were calling for Rogan to be pulled from the streaming service for “promoting COVID misinformation” after two podcasts that featured interviews with doctors who were vaccine experts.
Rogan issued a 10-minute video statement after that controversy, and he’s once again back directly addressing the latest viral video.
“It looks f–king horrible. Even to me,” Rogan said in the Instagram video. “I know that to most people, there is no context where a white person is ever allowed to say that word, nevermind publicly on a podcast, and I agree with that now. I haven’t said it in years.
“Instead of saying ‘the N-word,’ I would just say the word. I thought as long as it was in context, people would understand what I was doing.”
He continued, “It’s a very unusual word, but it’s not my word to use. I never used it to be racist, because I’m not racist, but whenever you’re in a situation where you have to say ‘I’m not racist,’ you’ve f–ked up, and I clearly have f–cked up.”
Rogan has constantly been under fire since signing a reported $100 million deal to bring his podcast over to Spotify, but the streaming service has had his back throughout every controversy.
