Captain Munnerlyn, a former Carolina Panthers defensive back, found himself behind bars after being arrested this week on assault charges.
According to WSOC-TV, Munnerlyn is accused of strangling a woman and kicking her in the face during an incident on January 3. The 33-year-old turned himself in at the Lincoln County Courthouse on January 10.
Munnerlyn was charged with assaulting a female and assault by strangulation. He was released after posting bond and is due back in court on March 1.
During his time in the NFL, Munnerlyn spent seven of his 10 NFL seasons with the Panthers. He also had a short stint with the Minnesota Vikings and was briefly on the Buffalo Bills.
The Panthers drafted Munnerlyn out of the University of South Carolina in the 7th round of the 2009 NFL Draft.
Munnerlyn was previously arrested at Miami International Airport for allegedly writing bad checks in 2020.
