The Washington Football Team officially transformed into the Washington Commanders on Wednesday morning, with fans giving a mixed reaction to the new team name.

Sure, Commanders sounds like a basic name you can find in Madden’s Create-A-Team mode, but the new identity wasn’t a complete failure.

Whether Dan Snyder wants to admit it or not, trademark issues likely stopped Washington from choosing some of their favorite nicknames. When it’s all said and done, however, the Commanders actually have some decent uniforms.

The traditional burgundy and gold is nothing special, but I do like the Commanders wordmark across the chest. And let’s be honest, they couldn’t play with the color scheme too much.

What really pops is the font on the white unis which gives the effect of an old school uniform while making it modern. And then, we have the all-black look which will surely be a fan favorite. The patches on the shoulder and Commanders wordmark on the chest really make the uniform stand out.

I don’t care what anyone says, that secondary logo is awesome.
