Bruce Arians’ pockets just got a little lighter.
On Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach has been fined $50,000 by the NFL as punishment for running onto the field and slapping one of his players in the helmet during his team’s win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Wild Card weekend.
Arians had slapped safety Andrew Adams at the end of a play to get him away from a pile-up and avoid drawing an unnecessary penalty.

Earlier this week, Arians was unapologetic about his actions.
“No,” he said when asked if he had any regrets. “I’ve seen enough dumb [things]. You can’t pull guys out of a pile. We just got a big play, great field position, and he’s trying to pull a guy out of a pile and I was trying to knock him off of that guy so he didn’t get a penalty.”
Arians was clearly caught up in the moment, but the NFL has made it clear that hitting players in the head should be avoided when possible. Even if you are the coach and are a little bit too fired up.
