A Florida man claims he has been banned by United Airlines after attempting to wear a red thong rather than a face mask when boarding a flight from Fort Lauderdale Airport to Washington, D.C.

Adam Jenne, who said he has worn thongs on his face before to get reactions out of flight crews, said he was simply showing the ridiculous nature of mask mandates amid the COVID-19 pandemic saying “it’s stupid” and “the whole thing is theater.”

“I think the best way to illustrate absurdity is with absurdity,” Jenne told NBC2. “Eventually, they called TSA and airport security. I ended up staying at the gate for about 45 minutes… Hopefully, Spirit Airlines has a better sense of humor tomorrow.”

Jenne claims other passengers walked off the plane once he was removed and compared himself to Rosa Parks.

“Everything else that has sparked change in this country has started from everyday people,” he said. “Rosa Parks was nobody famous. She changed the course of history.”

Comparing yourself to Rosa Parks for wearing a thong on your face is one thing we can all agree is absurd, but anyway. United Airlines addressed the situation in a statement of their own.

“The customer clearly wasn’t in compliance with the federal mask mandate and we appreciate that our team addressed the issue on the ground prior to takeoff, avoiding any potential disruptions on the air.”

What a time to be alive.
