Tennis star Nick Kyrgios had a rough year on the court this past season, and he has an interesting reason for his struggles.

The former world No. 13, who plummeted to No. 91 this year, was speaking on his podcast No Boundaries when he said that “sexual frustration” played a role in his lackluster performance.

Kyrgios says that it’s hard to perform at a high level when you’re missing someone and “a bit horny” on the court.

“With my first girlfriend, I was away from her for six months at a time,” Kyrgios said, according to news.com.au. “When you’re trying to perform at the highest level, you start missing someone like emotionally, physically and it becomes a sexual frustration.

“I’m on court and I can’t play because I’m a bit horny, if you know what I mean.”

Life is tough on the road.

Last month, police were involved in an incident with the Australian tennis star and his girlfriend Chiara Passari after she appeared to post a photo of Kyrgios in bed with another woman, but no charges or offenses were disclosed.

Let’s hope Nick can work out those frustrations without getting himself in any trouble on or off the court.
