Stephen A. Smith can’t stop ripping Kyrie Irving for his absence from the Brooklyn Nets for refusing to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

During the latest episode of ESPN’s First Take on Wednesday, Stephen A. was discussing the Golden State Warriors‘ blowout win over the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center when he directed a message at Kevin Durant.

Stephen A. used the time to rip Irving for his stance while saying he hopes the star guard gets cut from the team because he “betrayed” Durant by not being available.

“K.D., you made the wrong decision bro and here’s why: because you trusted Kyrie. Kyrie Irving betrayed you. Flat out betrayed you,” Stephen A. said. “Left you hanging. And while you’re sitting up there getting your ass kicked last night … they were cheering for Steph Curry in Brooklyn! From opening tap! They were chanting MVP in the Barclays Center and it wasn’t for the dude averaging 28.9 points per game.

“You juxtapose Steph Curry compared to Kyrie Irving, and what do you have? Kyrie Irving is a show stopper, a box office talent, and CAN’T BE TRUSTED. I actually hope Kyrie Irving gets cut.”

Throughout the night, Curry was getting MVP chants from the visiting fans which led Stephen A. to discuss a lack of culture for the Nets.

Whether the Nets would actually make the move to cut Irving remains to be seen, and there is no indication that Irving plans on changing his vaccination stance anytime soon. So, for now, the Nets have to work with what they have.

Brooklyn is currently 10-5 on the season.
