JR Smith has made his NCAA golf tournament debut.
On Monday, the two-time NBA champion hit the links for North Carolina A&T for the first day of the Elon Phoenix Invitational at the Alamance Country Club in Burlington, North Carolina.
The 38-year-old got off to a hot start on the course, draining two birdies in his first five holes.
Unfortunately for JR, he cooled off after his hot start and ended up with an 81 (+7) after hitting seven bogeys and a double-bogey, according to TMZ Sports. But hey, you have to start somewhere.
Here are some of the highlights:

Back in August, Smith revealed he enrolled at the HBCU and had aspirations of playing for the Aggies. Now, he can officially give it a go.
“It was probably one of the most exciting feelings I’ve had in a while. I really didn’t know how it was going to go. … but to be able to actually call myself a student-athlete is a great feeling,” Smith said, via The Undefeated.
Let’s hope JR continues to fine-tune his game while living out his dream of being a college athlete.
