An arrest has been made in connection to the shooting death of Utah football player Aaron Lowe.

According to the Salt Lake City Police Department Chief Mike Brown, Buk M. Buk has been arrested and booked into the Salt Lake (Utah) County Jail for the suspected murder of Lowe.

The 22-year-old Buk has been charged with aggravated murder, attempted murder, and felony discharge of a firearm.

“In a time of need, we turned to our community,” Brown said in a statement. “We asked people to come forward and to share the information they had. Because of those tips and the unrelenting pursuit of justice from our homicide detectives, we have arrested the person accused of murdering Aaron Lowe.

“So many lives have been impacted from this senseless shooting. I want to thank the work of our patrol officers, detectives, crime lab technicians, our data analysts, and the professional staff of the Salt Lake City Police Department. Their dedicated work of combing through every lead and every piece of evidence is what led us to this arrest.”

According to reports, a shooting broke out shortly after midnight after uninvited guests were asked to leave the party. When shots rang out, the 21-year-old Lowe was left dead and an unidentified female is in critical condition.

Lowe recently changed his number to 22 in honor of his best friend and former Utes player Ty Jordan, who was killed in December 2020 after an accidental shooting. Lowe, in his third season at Utah, was the first recipient of the Ty Jordan Memorial Scholarship.
